Kill your daughters!!

If you think that things are going better,
have a look at it once again.

I am always against Dowry like most of you. There were times when people used to marry just for dowry, and remarry for more dowry. Thats what Indian marriages were defined - "Deal, or No Deal". This is what dowry is for me-

-- Barter System, where female goes to new home by paying money.
-- Best source of Income, a quick money.
-- One of the ways to death, don't pay if you want your daughter to die.
-- A way to keep your daughter happy by the in-laws.
-- Best differentiator, thats what defines an Indian marriage.
-- A source of entertainment for the neighbors, see the magic in no-dowry marriages.

I feel proud to read or watch instances where the females has done something against the dowry system. Many have rejected the marriage proposal, many have killed their husbands, many have killed themselves, and many have escalated the issue to higher authorities. This is what is happening in some of the Urban areas, but what about rural areas?

I know that this post will be read just as an post. Some of you may vomit your comments, and thats over. I am a not a bragger, but I can never think that ways. Our ancestors might have made these rituals in some different aspect, but we are taking it this way.

If you cannot do anything about this, then start killing your daughters when they are in womb.

Come ahead or go back, but move; as we want to have a clear differentiation between losers and initiators.

  2. Thanks Angy. What we have in our blog is just common. There are many things which are ashamed of. The system requires money as a fuel. No matter who you are, money is the energizer for everyone.

  3. actualy there was a rationale behind starting this tradition of dowry. it was a way of giving a daughter her share in her father's wealth. but slowly it got distorted & took an ugly shape & a trick to extort money!!!

secondaly, d way u finished ur post...is utterly negative...!!actually female foeticide or as u say "killing in the womb" is itself directly caused by this heinous so-called tradition. it is d solution a middle-class man has already resorted to. i think this is a forum for progressive thinking people & not some emotionally charged zealots!!!

  4. @ Nimisha: You are right that there is a huge intention-gap now, and thats what I meant in second last paragraph of the post.

I am not giving any wrong message to our people. What I mean by using that sentence is to let them compare the situations with or without dowry. Not giving anything will itself put the girl in trouble. If they cannot fight against it, then there will be a time when people will have to go for female foeticide. The so-called liabilities will make them do so.
